Five things to know and do in and around Somerville on Oct. 9, 2013.

1) Fall Job Fair
More than 30 employers will be at this job fair, which begins at 11 a.m. at the Holiday Inn, 30 Washington St. Come dressed for job interviews and be prepared to make a good impression.

2) A Primer on Asiatic Lady's Slipper Orchids
An expert from the Arnold Arboretum gives a talk about these orchids tonight at 7 p.m. at the Tufts Administration Building, 167 Holland St. It's free and open to the public and sponsored by the Somerville Garden Club.

3) Fomrer Tufts Medical Center CEO Talks Health Care
Ellen Zane, CEO emerita of Tufts Medical Center, will give a talk today called, "What are the 'real' drivers of health care costs and how will they affect care going forward?" It's clearly a hot topic these days. To hear the talk, which is free and open to the public, you'll have to slip over the border, barely, into Cambridge. It's at Lesley University's Marran Theater, 34 Mellen St., at 4:30 p.m.

4) Cancelled: Talk with New York Times Bestselling Authors
Authors William Martin and William Landay were scheduled to speak at The Book Shop in Ball Square this evening, but the talk has been cancelled.

5) Halloween Thriller Flash Mob Dance Class
Want to participate in a Halloween flash mob? Dancers are wanted. Show up at 50 Brastow Ave. at 7:30 p.m.
