Raúl Gonzalez Named June Artist of the Month
Gonzalez creates colorful, sometimes playfully macabre drawings.
Somerville resident Raúl Gonzalez, known for his drawing, has been named Artist of the Month for June by the Somerville Arts Council.
Born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in El Paso and Cuidad Juárez, Mexico, Gonzalez was named best visual artist of 2010 by the Boston Phoenix, according to his website.
He's exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, the Mills Gallery at the Boston Center for the Arts, the San Francisco Art Institute and the Aidekman Gallery at Tufts University, among other places, according to an announcement from the Somerville Arts Council.
