'Puppet Palooza' Hits East Somerville in June

Children (and adults) will see puppet stories from Berlin, Mexico City and New England.

East Somerville will play host to puppets throughout in June and July.

"Puppet Palooza" will bring three performances to the neighborhood, and puppeteers from as far away as Berlin and Mexico City will be participating, according to an announcement from the Somerville Arts Council, which is organizing the event with East Somerville Main Streets.

June 11 – The Puppeteers' Cooperative Presents: A Giant Puppet Romp
The Puppeteers' Cooperative creates giant puppet parades and has worked on First Night Boston and First Night International, according to the announcement. On June 11, three Egyptian gods will come to the East Somerville Library courtyard to dance and play with the public. It's at 6:30 p.m.

June 25 – Puppet Showplace Theatre Presents: 'Goldie'
Brookline-based Puppet Showplace Theatre, which works with puppeteers from around the nation, puts on the story of a person who's reunited with his lost goldfish. It's at 6:30 p.m. in Glen Park at the Capuano School.

July 2 – Great Small Works Presents International Puppets
Great Small Works, based in Brooklyn, N.Y., brings artists from Berlin and Mexico City to Connexion at 149 Broadway.

Barbara Steinitz and Björn Kollin put on "Schnurzpiepegal" (Like Master, Like Dog), a story about dogs and their owners that's performed out of a suitcase. It's at 6:30 p.m.

Then, Facto Teatro presents "Don Chico con Alas" (Don Chico with Wings), based on a story by writer Eraclio Zepeda, about Don Chico's efforts to fly over the jungle. It's at 7:15 p.m.
