FOX25 'Zip Trips' Comes to Union Square Friday

You can be part of the live audience when the local TV news station brings its studio to Somerville to highlight what's great about our city.

The morning news team from FOX25 is setting up camp in Union Square Friday.

FOX25's "Zip Trips," which has visited more than 170 communities in New England, will be in the square from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., according to an announcement from the city and the TV station.

Hosts Shannon Mulaire and Gene Lavanchy will be joined by meteorologist Shiri Spear, news commentator Doug "VB" Goudie and reporter Elizabeth Hopkins, the announcement says.

Somerville residents of all ages are invited to be part of the live audience and show their Somerville pride.

There will also be some fun, including a scavenger hunt, a children's book drive and "Zip Trip Jr. Reporter," where a kid from the crowd will help out with reporter duties.

As part of the event, FOX25 will highlight some of Somerville's restaurants, schools, teams and local heros.

If you're interested, join in at 75 Union Square.
