Bio: Rick has been traveling down the road as a freelance photojournalist ever since he got my first four-channel crystal police scanner back in 1987. Along with my first scanner came the Kodak disk camera where he started documenting emergency scenes in my hometown of Belmont. How times have changed. Twenty-four years later, while he is out cruising for breaking news he is monitoring between six to eight radios and shooting with two Canon Digital SLR cameras and a video camera to bring the latest images to our readers.

Rick graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a B.S. in Communications 1992. After graduating college Rick embarked on his second passion of working in the public safety field as a full-time Public Safety Dispatcher for the town of Belmont. In July of 1988 Rick was hired as a career firefighter in the town of Belmont, where continues to work in the rank of lieutenant as a company officer on Engine 1.

Rick continued his passion of breaking news photography during his days off from his full time job by freelancing for numerous media outlets in Boston as well as on a national level. His award-winning photographs have been published in the Boston Herald, Boston Globe, Daily Times Newspapers, Firehouse Magazine, Fire Rescue Magazine, Popular Photography Magazine, and IAFF Publications.

Rick is a member of the Boston Press Photographers, National Press Photographers Association and International Fire Photographers Association.

Rick also maintains a photography blog of his current work at RickNohlMedia.com.

When not photographing, Rick enjoys spending time with his son Tyler and his wife Susan.
