Scott: I second your opinion. I just ate half of an Italian sandwich at Dave's for lunch. At $8.50 or so, they appear to be somewhat expensive, but they really feed two people.

ReplyI live near Magoun Square but never went to Lil Vinny's because I don't eat out much. But does anyone have a hypothesis on why it closed? What should replace it?

ReplyAfter reading this feature in Outside Magazine about the network of bicycle theft in New York, Portland and San Francisco, I'm wondering what sort of organized crime exists here in Somerville. Check out the story here: http://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-adventure/biking/Who-Pinched-My-Ride.html?page=12

I used the economic independence calculator to see how the cost of living in Somerville matched up to my and my boyfriend's wages and spending, and surprisingly, our household makes just about enough to keep living in our one-bedroom apartment. It's probably because our transportation costs are almost zero because we ride bikes and then spend those savings on food (and student loan payments). But even in Winter Hill, our housing costs were a couple hundred dollars higher than the average. All in all, it was a really interesting tool that everyone should check out.
