Target Employee Accused of Stealing iPods, Video Games

The employee tried to walk off with nearly $770 worth of merchandise, according to a police report.

A Somerville Target employee tried to filch iPods, a handheld Nintendo video-game system, video games and other electronics from the store, according to a Somerville police report. Somerville police responded to the Target at 180 Somerville Ave. at about 1:10 a.m. on Jan. 11 after the store's loss prevention officers caught the employee, identified as Jamal Crews-Williams, 20, from West Somerville, putting the merchandise into his backpack, the police report says. According to the report, Crews-Williams, whose shift began at 10:30 p.m., then hung his backpack on the coat rack in the employee area, beyond any points of sale.
