Report: Stolen Car Rips Pay Phone Off Wall After Teens Bail

An officer caught one of the teens after a foot chase, according to a police report.

After three teenagers bailed from a stolen car in East Somerville—in front of a police cruiser—the car rolled into a pay phone, ripping it off the wall, according to a Somerville police report. Police ultimately arrested the three teens allegedly involved and charged them receiving a stolen motor vehicle. The incident happened Friday at about 1:05 p.m. at the intersection of Pearl and Cross streets, according to the report. An officer on patrol saw a blue Honda coupe that had been reported stolen out of Everett turn violently, its tires screeching, from Cross Street onto Pearl Street, the report says. Somerville Teen Offers People Ride With Stolen Cab, Says Report

The Boston taxi was stolen in Medford, and the cab company tracked its whereabouts with GPS, a police report says.

An unlicensed Somerville teenager with a stolen taxi cab tried to give a group of people a ride in it, according to a Somerville police report. According to the report, a Boston cab was reported stolen in Medford, and on May 15 the taxi company was tracking its location with GPS. A little before 4 p.m., the Somerville police dispatcher radioed that the cab was in the area of Mystic Avenue, and an officer found the car, filled with five people, in the parking lot of 472 Mystic Ave., according to the report. When the officer approached the cab, the driver allegedly jumped out of the taxi, leaving the car running, hopped a fence and ran toward Temple Street. The other four people in the car, also youth, stayed behind, the report says. …

Police Make Stolen Vehicle Arrest Blocks from City Hall

Undercover officers followed a stolen vehicle and arrested its driver.

Undercover Somerville police officers arrested a Mattapan man Aug. 17, charging him with possessing a stolen vehicle and driving with a suspended license. According to a police report, officers working in plain clothes and driving an unmarked car had set up surveillance on a 2002 Nissan Altima that was reported stolen. The car was located at the intersection of Medford and Tennyson streets, according to the report.  When a man got into the reportedly stolen car and began driving, several undercover surveillance units followed the vehicle, the report says.
