Somerville has a great winter farmers market, but other communities have some, too. If you're looking for farm products on Thursday or Sunday, or if you just want to take a short trip, check these out.
Many of you may already shop at Somerville's winter farmers market, which is on Saturdays. Sometimes, much to our chagrin, it's not a Saturday. If you're interested in hitting up a farmers market on a Sunday, or maybe a Thursday, here are some other markets in nearby communities. Also, some of you may acknowledge the existence of places other than Somerville. What's more, you might want to visit such places. Farmers markets can be a great excuse to do that. The following are the markets open for the Winter 2013 season in Somerville and in nearby cities and towns. The market will highlight local merchants for the holiday shopping season.
Somerville Local First, on organization that promotes local businesses, is hosting its first ever holiday market this year. Called "Local is for Lovers," the market will let people shop locally all in one place. The market takes place Dec. 2 at The Center for Arts at the Armory, and it will include items from local merchants and artists, along with kid-friendly music and activities. Kat Rutkin, executive director of Somerville Local First, said one fun part of the market will be a table filled with Somerville restaurants selling gift certificates. This will allow people who want to buy gift certificates for their food-loving friends the ability to purchase them all at once. Rutkin said the list of restaurants participating is not yet …

Davis Square has a robust consignment shop and vintage clothing culture. Here, we look at some of the main players.
Opened in September 2011, Found is a consignment store that consists of high-end designer pieces and contemporary brands. Whether you’re looking for a retro flowery sundress or a vintage Chanel white tweed jacket, the store covers all price points. Prada, Ralph Lauren, Chanel and the ever-covetable Alaïa can be found in the front and center of the store. All other racks include, but are not limited to, brands such as Joie, Phillip Lim, Guess and Gap. While most of the clothes are for women, men are not forgotten and have a small section. There’s a great selection of ties and shirts for the office, while an assortment of loafers wait to be picked up for a casual Saturday afternoon. A sales associate told Somerville Patch that shopping at …

Nellie's Wildflowers in Davis Square is the winner.
The best florist in Somerville is Nellie's Wildflowers outside Davis Square, according to Somerville Patch users. We tallied votes, comments and reviews to determine the winner. As the name "wildflowers" indicates, they branch out from the standard collection of roses and carnations to create unique bouquets composed of flowers you can't find everywhere. "Every bouquet we make is an original," said Jessica Squires, an employee. She was happy for the win and said, "We're all a tight-knit family." Patch readers had good things to say about Nellie's. "Great flowers all the time," Kevin wrote. "Have ordered several times through the years. Keep up the good work." "Nellie's is the best," wrote Julie Anne …
