Tonight: Learn About the Reconstruction of Lower Broadway

Lower Broadway is on the verge of significant change. Discuss what's happening and the neighborhood's future at a meeting Monday night.

Lower Broadway in East Somerville is undergoing a significant, $8 million, two-year reconstruction. The roadway is getting redesigned, most significantly by bringing the two lanes of traffic in each direction down to one lane in each direction. The reconstruction will also widen sidewalks, add trees and benches, and improve lighting, crosswalks and traffic signal phasing. Tonight, there's a meeting about all this change and about the area's future. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Cross Street Community Center, 165 Broadway.
