Taste of Somerville took place Tuesday night, and Somerville Patch was, sadly, not able to attend. More than 35 restaurants were scheduled to serve food at the event, which was organized by the Somerville Chamber of Commerce and benefited RESPOND, Inc. Where to Grab a Drink Outside in Somerville (and Cambridge and Boston)

As spring turns to summer, some people think about heading to the beach or camping in the woods. Others think about staying right here in the city, getting together with friends and grabbing a cold drink outside. Thankfully, an online map created by the Boston Business Journal shows where you can enjoy an outdoor libation here in Somerville—and in Cambridge, Boston, Brookline and Quincy. Check out the map here. The list of places to enjoy an alfresco drink in Somerville includes: The map, which was posted in 2012, does miss some locations in Somerville. For instance, P.J. Lauded Boston Food Truck to Open Restaurant in Magoun Square

Somerville's Magoun Square is becoming a local food destination as a popular food truck plans its first brick-and-mortar storefront and a new wings restaurant is also planning to open this summer.

Pennypacker's, a small food truck company known for its porchetta sandwich, is planning to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Somerville's Magoun Square. A Facebook post from Pennypacker's said the Somerville Zoning Board of Appeals approved plans for the restaurant on May 15 and that the Magoun square eatery could open this summer. A staff report written by Somerville's planning department says the restaurant will move into 514C Medford Street, a building that's also home to K2 Market, Caprese Pizzeria and soon-to-open King of Wings. Tuesday's Taste of Somerville Features More than 35 Restaurants

Some of Somerville's favorite restaurants, and some of its new favorites, will serve up dishes to support a local Somerville non-profit.

Taste of Somerville takes place Tuesday. The event features restaurants from around the city. You'll get to sample food from some old Somerville favorites. You'll also get a chance to try food from some newbies in town, including Bronwyn, Amsterdam Falafelshop and Daddy Jones. This year, Island Creek Oyster Bar will also be making an appearance. The event, organized by the Somerville Chamber of Commerce, benefits RESPOND, Inc. Here are the restaurants participating this year. It takes place Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, and you can get tickets here.

Highly Anticipated Somerville Restaurant to Open May 15

It's an official opening date for a new Union Square eatery.

Get ready for fresh pretzels, hand-twisted sausage, veal Jägerschnitzel, an extensive German beer list and hard-to-find wines from Germany, Austria and Südtirol. Bronwyn, a new restaurant by Tim and Bronwyn Wiechmann, from Cambridge's T.W. Food, opens in Union Square on May 15. Boston Eater reported the news Tuesday, and Bronwyn's Facebook page confirmed it. The food blog lists a number of dishes and drinks customers will find at the new restaurant, which will feature Central and Eastern European cuisine. Boston Eater says the restaurant will be open for just dinner at first, but it will eventually serve brunch and "late-night sausage." 'Redbones' BBQ Opening Second Location in Malden

The popular Davis Square hot spot will come to 333 Commercial Street this August, with plans to operate a nanobrewery, beer garden and catering services.

A popular Davis Square BBQ spot will be opening a new location in Malden, the city of Malden has confirmed. Redbones will bring a full bar, complete with its beer and bourbon list, to 333 Commercial St., the present location of Rosebud Farms.  Redbones opened in Davis Square in 1987 and has a popular food truck. Owners Robert Gregory and Caryn Whitney said they had plans to open an on-site nanobrewery at the Malden location, offer outside seating and operate catering services at the site. Bronwyn to Open, Rosebud to Close in Mid May

May will see an anticipated restaurant opening and a changing of the guard at a Davis Square landmark, according to a local food website.

The middle of May will bring some important restaurant happenings to Somerville, according to Boston Eater. The food website says Bronwyn, a highly anticipated new restaurant in Union Square from the owners of Cambridge's T.W. Food, could open as early as May 13. The restaurant will feature food from the area around Germany and Austria. We're talking sausages, pretzels and a killer beer list. Boston Eater said May 13 would be the earliest date Bronwyn would open, but sometime in mid May is likely. It also pointed readers to a cool photo of the restaurant's interior on Bronwyn's Facebook page. On the other side of Somerville, May 12 will be the last day Davis Square's Rosebud will be open, Boston Eater says. May 12 is Mother's Day. …

Spoke Wine Bar Opens in Davis Square

This intimate new eatery will serve small dishes and wines from small, Old World producers.

Spoke Wine Bar in Davis Square is officially open. The new neighborhood eatery will serve small dishes, such as cheese and charcuterie, along with wines from small, Old World producers, craft beers and a carefully chosen selection of cocktails, according to the wine bar's Facebook page. Located at 89 Holland St., Spoke Wine Bar is next door to its sister business, Dave's Fresh Pasta. It opened Monday evening, in the space formerly occupied by Black & Blues. Homeless Beacon Hill Restaurant 'Pops Up' In Somerville Wednesday

Forced out of Beacon Hill due to redevelopment, a Boston favorite comes to Somerville for one night only.

An embattled Beacon Hill restaurant that closed earlier this year when its building was torn down for redevelopment is making a one-night-only appearance in Somerville Wednesday night. Villa Mexico Cafe, which for six years served one of Boston's best burritos out of Grampy's gas station on Cambridge Street in Beacon Hill, is holding a "pop up" opening at Magoun Square's Daddy Jones. On the menu is homemade Mexican food, drinks and music, according to the pop-up event's eventbrite invitation.
