1) Free pet adoption: one week from today On July 30, we featured the story of William and Henry, a cat and dog duo at The Animal Rescue League of Boston who wanted to be adopted together. Well, we can report that William and Henry were adopted, and they've stayed together. Also, a week from today, on Sept. 8, The Animal Rescue League is hosting a free adoption day. From 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., all adoption fees will be waived. It's part of the organization's "Race to Rescue 1500," where the goal is to save the lives of 1500 cats and dogs between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31. Take a look at this lovely lass Lucy. She is a seven-year-old female boxer with so much love to give. Lucy is a sweet and cuddly lady looking for a home. Sasho is a wonderful bird who loves to interact with people. She's hand-tamed, and would do well with a seasoned bird owner, or a first-timer.

She's a 2-year-old parakeet who came to the Animal Rescue League of Bostonfrom a very loving owner who unfortunately had to move to a place where birds were not allowed. She is a shy but very friendly parakeet who was handled regularly in her previous home, so she's very hand-tamed. Parakeets make great companions and have wonderful shining personalities.
