Oleana's Owner Comes to Somerville to Take Over the Former Paddock Restaurant
The new restaurant will likely feature mezze and a full bar, and it could open this summer, according to Chowder, a food blog.
Ana Sortun, owner and chef of Cambridge's highly acclaimed Oleana and Sofra Bakery and Cafe, is coming to Somerville. Boston Magazine's "Chowder" blog reports that Sortun will take over the space formerly occupied by The Paddock at 249 Pearl St. The Paddock, which had a booth once favorited by James "Whitey" Bulger," according to one reader, closed in July. Chowder reports the new restaurant will be a joint venture with Sortun and Oleana's chef de cuisine, Cassie Piuma, who will be a partner and executive chef at the Somerville location. Piuma has previously worked at Sel de la Terre, Gourmet Caterers and The Butcher Shop, according to Oleana's website.
