The accident happened on I-93 North at about 2:30 a.m.
A rollover accident on Interstate 93 early Friday morning sent one person to the hospital, according to the Somerville Fire Department. The accident happened on I-93 North in Somerville at about 2:30 a.m., according to Acting Lt. Derek Nolan. Nolan did not have information about the extent of the injury or about which hospital the victim was transported to.

The highway was closed at the Storrow Drive exit, southbound.
Interstate 93 in Charlestown reopened before 9 a.m. Thursday morning, but traffic was still slow after a tractor trailer rolled over in the southbound lane at about 5:30 a.m. The roadway was closed at the Storrow Drive exit and a detour was set up while crews cleaned the area, according to State Police. NECN reported that traffic is especially slow in the Sullivan Square area where motorists exited the highway hoping to avoid a detour that was set up further down the road. Traffic was backed through Somerville up as far as Stoneham. The truck was hauling a full load of clay which spilled on the roadway, as well as diesel fuel and hydraulic fluids. At least one person was ejected from a car in an accident on Interstate 93 near the Mystic Avenue exit Tuesday afternoon.
A two-car accident near exit 30 on Interstate 93 southbound Tuesday afternoon resulted in a rollover, and at least one person was ejected from a car, according to fire department scanner transmissions. The accident happened around 3:30 p.m., and Somerville and Boston Fire Departments responded to the accident according to the transmissions. Medford Patch, over Twitter, reported the accident happened near exit 30, which is near the border of Somerville and Medford, and the two right lanes of the highway were closed. Somerville Patch will update this story when more information becomes available.

A 25-year-old may have been outside his disabled car when he was struck by a Ford Explorer near Exit 29, according to Massachusetts State Police.
A Stoneham man suffered serious injuries during a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 93 nortbound in the area of Exit 29 in Somerville early Tuesday morning, according to a press statement issued by Massachusetts State Police. "Initial investigation indicates that the victim, a 25-year-old male from Stoneham may have been outside of his disabled 2002 Hyundai Elantra when he was struck by a 42-year-old male from Sudbury driving a 2010 Ford Explorer," the statement reads. The driver of the stolen car drove the wrong way on Interstate 93 and caused a four-car crash, say Massachusetts State Police.
UPDATE, 2:30 p.m.: The man arrested in this incident, Richard Saunders, of Reading, is wanted by Reading Police for another incident of driving in the wrong direction on a highway. He is accused of driving north in the southbound lane of Route 128, nearly hitting a family of four.Read the story on Reading Patch. A 27-year-old man from Lynn was killed Monday afternoon when a 400-pound tire broke loose from the back of a truck and flew into his windshield.
Massachusetts State Police are investigating an accident that killed a man on Interstate 93 in Somerville Monday afternoon. According to a press release from state police, the accident occurred before 3 p.m. north of Exit 29, in Somerville, on the northbound side of the highway. A flatbed truck, traveling southbound on I-93, had a cargo of four solid-core tires, which weigh about 400 pounds each. The tires were loaded on a wooden pallet and secured with a single strap, and at some point the cargo became unsecured, according to state police. One of the tires fell off the truck, bounced off the roadway, flew into the northbound side of the highway and smashed into the windshield of a 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant, state police said. It's probably the worst area to be driving when it's dark. There are always accident/rollovers here. I guess it's still not reason enough to get those street lights working. I don't believe they've worked in 15 years.   more ›
