Five Things: Job Fair, 'Playborhood' Talk

Also, the Boston Breakers are creating a video about coaching soccer for girls, and East Cambridge Savings Bank gets a new vice president.

1) Mixed-Industry Job Fair This job fair will include representatives from about 35 companies looking for people to fill a variety of positions: case workers, software engineers, clinitians, sales representatives, and more. It's at 11 a.m. at Holiday Inn Boston-Somerville. 2) Playborhood Mike Lanza, author of Playborhood:  Turn Your Neighborhood Into a Place for Play, will speak tonight at City Hall about ways to create vibrant play areas for children in Somerville's neighborhoods. The talk is at 6 p.m. 3) Boston Breakers Soccer Video The Boston Breakers soccer team is creating an instructional video for parents and coaches about the unique coaching needs for girls, and it's launched a Kickstarter campaign to help produce the video. Aldermen Lambaste Holiday Inn After December Fight, Public Hearing Scheduled

Aldermen said there have been other problems at the Holiday Inn.

Several members of the Somerville Board of Aldermen had strong words for the Holiday Inn after a December fight outside the hotel that caused police to disperse a large crowd and led to a nearby shooting. "We're not going to tolerate this behavior; we're not going to tolerate this lack of respect," said Ward 1 Alderman Maureen Bastardi, who represents the East Somerville district that's home to the Holiday Inn. According to Bastardi and other aldermen, who spoke about the matter on Jan. 10, the Dec. 28 incident was not the first time functions at the hotel have caused problems in the neighborhood.
