Tryouts for Boston Stars Hockey Team Begins Sunday
The under-16 team will be coached by former NHL player Jim Vesey, Sr., and will play a 35-game schedule.

The girls basketball team and the boys hockey team won Greater Boston League championships this year.
The Somerville Board of Aldermen and Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone honored the Somerville High School girls varsity basketball team and boys varsity hockey team Thursday. The basketball team reigned as Greater Boston League tri-champions this year, and the hockey team was champion of the Greater Boston League for the first time since 2001. In addition, Indira Evora, captain of the basketball team, was honored as a four-time GBL all-star and as the sixth Highlander in history—the fourth female—to score 1,000 points.
The three-on-three hockey tournament will benefit Autism Speaks. It's at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The Blades will play les Stars de Montréal on Jan. 13.
The Boston Blades are the only American team in the Canadian Women's Hockey League, and they will play the Montreal Stars in Somerville on Jan. 13 to benefit a local family shelter. The Blades and the Stars are top-level women's pro teams, and a number of Blades players could make it onto the U.S. women's national team. Some proceeds from the game, which takes place at 1:35 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Skating Rink, will benefit the Elizabeth Stone House, a Roxbury-based shelter.
