Former Peace Corps Leader Named Assistant Principal of Healey School
Frederick McClelland comes to the Somerville school system after serving as an assistant principal in Westport and serving in the Peace Corps in Paraguay.
Frederick McClelland, who recently served as assistant principal at Westport Middle School and spent three years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay, is the new assistant principal at the Arthur D. Healey School, according to an announcement from Somerville Public Schools. In addition to serving as assistant principal at Westport Middle School, McClelland was the special education department coordinator, the announcement says. He began his teaching career in 2000 at Edison McNair Academy in East Palo Alto, Calif., heading the English language arts department there and ultimately becoming assistant principal and school operations manager, according to the announcement.
