Lilly Testa, winner of Somerville's first ever "Reach for the Stars" talent show held in the fall, will sing tonight on this special holiday edition of "Greater Somerville, Testa, a native New Yorker, won the competition, besting dozens of other entrants. Joe Lynch and Kyann Anderson will host tonight's special and both have promised not to sing. The show will air live tonight on SCATV at 7:30 PM and be rerun during the holiday season. For those of you following the race for state representative in the 26th Middlesex District, which encompasses East Somerville and East Cambridge, you might want to take a look at some recent media coverage. The "Ask Anything About Ballot Question 4" town hall meeting will be videotaped at SCATV Monday night. Be part of the studio audience.
SCATV is taping a special show Monday night about Somerville's Question 4, which asks voters whether or not Somerville should adopt the Community Preservation Act. Learn more about Question 4 here. The show will be in the form of a town hall meeting, according to an announcement from SCATV, and members of the public can join the studio audience. There will be five guest panelists, and members of the studio audience can ask questions. Here's who will be on the panel: Joe Lynch, host of "Greater Somerville," will moderate the show, and it will be rebroadcast on SCATV regularly until Nov. 6. The Davis Square alderman spoke about issues involved in crafting the food truck ordinance, such as establishing a pilot program and CORI checks.
Somerville Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz, who chairs the Board of Aldermen's legislative matters committee that's currently drafting an ordinance to regulate food trucks in the city, spoke about the effort on the Sept. 18 episode of "Greater Somerville." The committee has been working on the ordinance for about seven months, and Gewirtz was relatively candid when talking about the direction the draft ordinance has taken. Many aldermen, for instance, want a pilot program for food trucks, but Gewirtz questioned that concept. "The Board of Aldermen is going to look at every [food truck] application, so what does a pilot program mean?" she asked on the show.
