Report: Tsarnaev Admits to Detonating Marathon Bombs

The Boston Marathon bombings suspect currently hospitalized told FBI agents that he and his brother detonated the bombs near the finish line, the Boston Globe reports.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, made the reported admission on Sunday from his bed at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and had not yet been given a Miranda warning, the Globe reported. A "senior police official" told the Globe that authorities were not concerned about Tsarnaev not being read his Miranda rights, which means any statements he made would not be admissible in court, due to testimony of the Tsarnaev brother's alleged carjacking victim. Union Square Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in New Hampshire

The suspect in the Saturday morning robbery of Citizens Bank in Union Square was arrested early Tuesday morning at a Red Roof Inn in Salem, N.H.

The suspect in the Saturday morning robbery of Citizens Bank in Union Square was arrested early Tuesday morning at a Red Roof Inn in Salem, N.H., Somerville Police announced Tuesday morning. The suspect had already served time in federal prison for a previous bank robbery, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. The suspect, Michael Tucker, 45, was identified from the Citizens Bank surveillance photo by Westwood Police—he had been caught on video allegedly stealing lottery tickets from a Shell gas station, according to Westwood Police. Police, FBI Continue Search for Union Square Bank Robber

The Citizens Bank in Union Square was robbed late Saturday morning, according to police.

As of Monday morning, Somerville police and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force were still looking to identify the suspect in a Saturday morning bank robbery in Union Square. The robbery happened at the Citizens Bank, at 40 Union Square in the heart of the business district, at about 11:20 a.m. It's one of the busiest times of the week in the square, with the farmers market around the corner usually attracting large crowds of shoppers. The square's cafes and businesses are usually buzzing with activity on a Saturday morning. "We have three very good photos of this guy," said Deputy Chief Paul Upton of the Somerville Police Department. Prosecutors Push for 'Whitey' Bulger Trial to Start

At status hearing in federal court today, federal prosecutors accused Bulger of trying to delay the trial, according to press reports.

Federal prosecutors in the case against James "Whitey" Bulger accused the notorious mobster of trying to slow down the court process in order to avoid trial, according to the Boston Globe and other media accounts. He's trying to "manipulate the system," one prosecutor said, according to a report from the Associated Press. Prosecutors and Bulger's attorney, J.W. Carney, Jr., were in U.S. District Court in Boston this afternoon for a status hearing. Bulger faces trial on 19 counts of murder in addition to charges of racketeering, money laundering, extortion, possession of machine guns and other allegations stemming from his career as a reputed mob boss in Boston. Somerville Saw Drop in Violent Crime Last Year

According to a recent FBI report, Somerville saw a decline in violent crime from 2009 to 2010, and the city had a lower violent crime rate than Cambridge, Boston and the nation as a whole.

Somerville has a lower rate of violent crime than Cambridge, Boston, Massachusetts and the nation as a whole, according to recent data from the FBI. Based on figures from the FBI's 2010 "Uniform Crime Reports," which was released last week, the rate of violent crime in Somerville, in 2010, was 314.8 per 100,000. As a comparison, Cambridge had a violent crime rate of 439.2 per 100,000, and the rate in Boston was 903.4 per 100,000. In the Northeast region of the United States, Massachusetts had the highest violent crime rate, according to the FBI's report. The Northeast region of the country, as defined by the report, includes the six New England states, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Violent crime includes four categories of crimes…

Grand Jury to Investigate Bulger's Secret Life in California.

Federal authorities have issued subpoenas to at least two people in California who knew Bulger, according to media reports.

A federal grand jury in Boston is investigating the 16-year period when James "Whitey" Bulger and his girlfriend, Catherine Greig, were fugitives living in California, according to the Boston Globe. According to the Globe, the FBI has issued at least two subpoenas: one to Bulger and Greig's former property manager in Santa Monica, and one to someone who knew the couple during their time in California. The federal investigation could lead to further charges against Bulger and Greig, the Globe reports. Bulger, a reputed South Boston mob boss who faces charges on 19 counts of murder in addition to other charges, was arrested on June 22 in Santa Monica and brought to Boston for trial.  Greig, who lived with Bulger in California, faces charges …
