Allegedly Drunk Driver 'Bounced Off' McGrath Underpass

Police found empty nips on the passenger floor, and a concerned witness followed the car all the way from Wakefield, according to a police report.

An allegedly drunk driver, behind the wheel of a 1992 Plymouth Sundance, drove at least 12 miles on two interstate highways, "bounced off" the wall of Washington Street's McGrath Highway underpass, then came to a stop against a curb, according to an account from a police report. It's possible the driver was consuming nips during the journey, as police found several empty nip bottles on the passenger-side floor, according to the report. The man behind the wheel was driving so erratically that a concerned witness, who first noticed the car on Interstate 95 in Wakefield, decided to call state police and follow the car when it exited Interstate 93, the police report says. Once off the highway, the witness allegedly flagged down a Boston cop in…

Man Arrested Asleep at The Wheel

Police arrest a man and charged him with operating under the influence after allegedly finding him asleep at the wheel of his car.

The traffic lights at Washington Street and McGrath Highway are an interesting place to take a nap, especially at about 3 a.m. after a tropical storm knocked down trees and wires throughout the region. That's just what one man did early Monday morning, according to a police report. A police officer responded to the intersection of Washington and McGrath for reports of a man sleeping in a car, and he was directed by a cab driver to a car at the lights, its engine running, according to the report. In the driver's seat, a man was sleeping. The cab driver told the officer he had knocked on the window, but the man wouldn't wake up. The responding officer also knocked on the car window, and the man remained asleep, according to the report. The …
