The Union Square area is getting a new donut shop Thursday. Union Square Donuts, by the people behind Culinary Cruisers, makes donuts in flavors like chocolate chipotle, maple-bacon, and honey glazed with toasted almonds. It officially opens its doors at 201 Somerville Ave. Thursday morning, according to the donut shop's Facebook page. A Wednesday evening post said, "Big day tomorrow! We'll be open from 10am-8pm. Stop by for some delicious donuts." It's in the same building as Kitchen Inc., sort of across the street from Target. If anyone stops by, let us know how it is. Union Square Might Get New Donut Shop

Union Square could be getting a new donut shop called, well, Union Square Donuts, according to one of Boston's top food blogs. Boston Eater says the folks behind Somerville's Culinary Cruisers debuted Union Square Donuts at the Dec. 2 "Local is for Lovers" holiday market and that they may open a retail shop at 201 Somerville Ave., near the Target. The Culinary Cruisers website says donut flavors include things like chocolate chipotle and honey glazed with toasted almonds. Anyone excited for homegrown Somerville donuts?
