The Somerville Fire Department took these photos of an excavator that fell into the basement of a building undergoing demolition. According to an email from the fire department, the construction accident happened Tuesday at 181 Cedar St. at around 4 p.m. The Somerville Fire Department's rescue company, along with building inspectors, responded to the incident, and there were no injuries, the email says.

A construction worker fell into the basement of a Dover Street building and suffered what's believed to be two broken ankles.
Dover Street in Davis Square was closed briefly Tuesday morning as firefighters rescued a construction worker who had fallen into the basement of a building. The worker fell at least eight to 10 feet into the basement of 100 Dover Street and suffered what seemed to be two broken ankles, but was otherwise okay, according to District Chief Dennis Murphy of the Somerville Fire Department. Fire department rescue workers had to use a stokes basket—a stretcher into which victims can be securely tied down—to rescue the fallen man because there were no stairs leading to the basement.
