Highly Anticipated Somerville Restaurant to Open May 15

It's an official opening date for a new Union Square eatery.

Get ready for fresh pretzels, hand-twisted sausage, veal Jägerschnitzel, an extensive German beer list and hard-to-find wines from Germany, Austria and Südtirol. Bronwyn, a new restaurant by Tim and Bronwyn Wiechmann, from Cambridge's T.W. Food, opens in Union Square on May 15. Boston Eater reported the news Tuesday, and Bronwyn's Facebook page confirmed it. The food blog lists a number of dishes and drinks customers will find at the new restaurant, which will feature Central and Eastern European cuisine. Bronwyn to Open, Rosebud to Close in Mid May

May will see an anticipated restaurant opening and a changing of the guard at a Davis Square landmark, according to a local food website.

The restaurant will feature food from the area around Germany and Austria. We're talking sausages, pretzels and a killer beer list. Boston Eater said May 13 would be the earliest date Bronwyn would open, but sometime in mid May is likely. It also pointed readers to a cool photo of the restaurant's interior on Bronwyn's Facebook page. On the other side of Somerville, May 12 will be the last day Davis Square's Rosebud will be open, Boston Eater says. May 12 is Mother's Day. …

(Boston Eater called it one of "Boston's most anticipated restaurant openings.") The exact opening date hasn't been announced, but a member of Bronwyn's marketing team sent some more information, and some photos, describing what diners can expect. Tim Wiechmann, the chef and owner, along with his wife, Bronwyn, has been testing recipes, and the dishes and drinks will come from German, Austria, Alto Adige (a.k.a. South Tyrol, in the Italian Alps) and Eastern Europe. As such, some of the recipes the Wiechmann's have been testing are things like Bavarian sausages, Miltwurst (we'll have to learn what …
