Somerville Resident to be Charged in Connection to Arlington and Waltham Bank Robberies

A 35-year-old Somerville man and a 30-year-old Arlington woman are accused of robbing two banks Tuesday afternoon.

Two individuals—one from Somerville—will be charged in connection to bank robberies that took place in Arlington and Waltham Tuesday afternoon, according to a state police press release. Trooper Mark England arrested Andrea Koutis, a 30-year-old Arlington woman, and Erik Stout, 35, of Somerville, at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday after a short pursuit on Soldiers Field Road in Boston. According to the press release, evidence indicates the two robbed the East Cambridge Savings Bank on Broadway, in Arlington, Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:15 p.m. About 20 minutes later, according to the press release, they allegedly robbed the Sovereign Bank on Trapelo Road in Waltham. Police Make Arrest in Union Square Bank Robbery Case

Police picked through trash to find evidence that led to an arrest, according to a police report.

Somerville Police arrested a Somerville woman Friday in connection to the Oct. 30 robbery of the Citizens Bank in Union Square. Police arrested Laina Burke, 26, of 8 Everett St., after staking out her apartment and finding stained clothing in her trash, according to a police report. On the day of the robbery, a red dye pack that had been placed in the stolen cash exploded, staining the suspect's clothes, the report says. Burke's Everett Street apartment is only a few blocks from the Citizens Bank in Union Square. Immediately after the robbery, police were unable to find the suspect after an initial search of the area, the report says. Union Square Bank Robbed for Second Time in Two Weeks, Police Search for Suspect

The suspect is a white woman, about five-feet one-inch tall, and she had a scarf across her face.

Somerville Police are searching for the suspect who robbed the Citizens Bank in Union Square on Tuesday morning. It was the second time the bank was robbed in about two weeks. Somerville Patch reported initial reports about the robbery Tuesday. The suspect is a white female, about five-feet one-inch tall, with a medium build, according to an announcement from Somerville Police. The announcement says: "She was wearing a dark jacket and dark hooded sweat shirt and white pants. She also had a scarf across her face. The suspect fled the bank on foot." Reports of Tuesday Morning Bank Robbery in Union Square

A woman in sunglasses and a hooded jacket robbed a bank in Union Square Tuesday morning, according to reports on Twitter and scanner transmissions.

A woman robbed a bank in Union Square Tuesday morning, according to reports on Twitter. Police scanner transmissions at around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday seemed to confirm that police are searching for the suspect. According to @AlertNewEngland, which monitors police and fire scanner transmissions, the bank robbery happened near 52 Union Square shortly before 11:15 a.m. AlertNewEngland said the woman was white, about 35 years old, wearing a dark hooded jacket, sunglasses, black gloves and white pants. The suspect in the Saturday morning robbery of Citizens Bank in Union Square was arrested early Tuesday morning at a Red Roof Inn in Salem, N.H.

The suspect in the Saturday morning robbery of Citizens Bank in Union Square was arrested early Tuesday morning at a Red Roof Inn in Salem, N.H., Somerville Police announced Tuesday morning. The suspect had already served time in federal prison for a previous bank robbery, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. The suspect, Michael Tucker, 45, was identified from the Citizens Bank surveillance photo by Westwood Police—he had been caught on video allegedly stealing lottery tickets from a Shell gas station, according to Westwood Police. Police, FBI Continue Search for Union Square Bank Robber

The Citizens Bank in Union Square was robbed late Saturday morning, according to police.

As of Monday morning, Somerville police and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force were still looking to identify the suspect in a Saturday morning bank robbery in Union Square. The robbery happened at the Citizens Bank, at 40 Union Square in the heart of the business district, at about 11:20 a.m. It's one of the busiest times of the week in the square, with the farmers market around the corner usually attracting large crowds of shoppers. The square's cafes and businesses are usually buzzing with activity on a Saturday morning. "We have three very good photos of this guy," said Deputy Chief Paul Upton of the Somerville Police Department. Davis Square Bank Robbery Wednesday, Police Seek Suspect

The Central Bank on Highland Avenue was robbed Wednesday.

Somerville police are seeking to identify a suspect who robbed the Central Bank in Davis Square Wednesday afternoon. The suspect was a white male of average build wearing a green T-shirt and black Stanley Cup hat, according to an announcement from Somerville Police. Police later recovered the shirt and hat nearby, the announcement says. According to the announcement, police responded to the bank at around 2:20 p.m.  The suspect reportedly entered the bank, demanded cash and threatened employees, according to the announcement. The suspect did not brandish a weapon, and no one was hurt, the announcement says. Davis Square has faced a number of bank robberies in the past year. Police Seek Identity of Davis Square Bank Robbery Suspect

The suspect robbed the Eastern Bank in Davis Square Friday morning. He was wearing shorts, a Red Sox shirt and a "Harvard" baseball cap.

Somerville Police are looking for information on the identity of a suspect who robbed the Eastern Bank in Davis Square Friday morning. Below is the description of the suspect from somervillepolice.org. Police also released a security camera photo of the suspect. The Somerville Police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying this man with regards to a bank robbery at Eastern Bank in Davis Square earlier today.  He did not show or threaten a weapon.  He's a white male, appears to be in 40's, about 5'8", 190lbs, green/red-orange tattoo on right bicep (possibly a fighting Irish leprechaun), cargo shorts, blue sleeveless Red Sox shirt, and a gray/blue ball cap with "Harvard" written across the front.

Friday Morning Bank Robbery in Davis Square

The Eastern Bank in Davis Square was robbed Friday morning. The branch was closed later in the morning, but opened by Friday afternoon. It's not the first time this branch has been robbed.

Police Arrest Woman for Wednesday Morning Bank Robbery

Crystal Lynn Geary allegedly robbed the East Cambridge Savings Bank on Highland Avenue, according to Somerville police.

Police arrested a 22-year-old homeless woman Wednesday morning and charged her with robbing the East Cambridge Savings Bank at 285 Highland Avenue, according to an announcement from Somerville police. According to the announcement, Crystal Lynn Geary went into the bank at about 10:37 a.m. and passed a note to the bank teller saying she had a bomb and to hand over $2000. Geary then fled, but was caught by police a short distance from the bank, according to the announcement. The announcement says bank employees identified Geary as the alleged robber. She will be arraigned in Somerville District Court and charged with armed robbery and making a false bomb threat. Somerville police said the investigation is ongoing.

So what?!? The woman still committed a couple of crimes; Armed robbery and threats to commit a crime, and therefore, deserves some jail time for it. Let's hope they bring this woman to justice.   more ›
