The Assembly Square developers commissioned Somerville artists to create temporary tattoos for children that they'll be giving out at ArtBeat in Davis Square.
ArtBeat is bringing tons of musicians and artists to Davis Square this weekend, and Assembly Row, the large development going into Assembly Square, wanted to pass on some images they've commissioned for the event. They're temporary tattoos, the kind kids love, and they're by local artists Patrick McWain and James Weinberg, according to Assembly Row. They feature the development's mascot, Rosie the dog. The art and music festival begins Friday night. This year's theme is migration.
ArtBeat, a large festival that brings thousands into Davis Square, takes place Friday and Saturday, with a full lineup of live music, art displays, activities, street food and vendors. Over dozen bands will play on two stages, and there will also be dance troupes, storytelling, activities for kids, puppets, an interactive map project, a parade and more, according to the ArtBeat website. Bands will play a variety of music: jazz, hip-hop, rock, roots, soul, folk, modern klezmner, Cape Verdean, Brazilian … the list goes on. Sounds like a lot of fun! Similarly, I've really enjoyed all the recent happenings in Malden Square this summer. There is a Farmer's Market with lots of great items on Tuesday afternoons, food trucks during the week and street performances on weekends. It's a lot of fun and something you should try out before the summer ends.   more ›
