Matilda's Kittens Have All Been Adopted, Now Matilda Needs a Home

This week's featured pet is a sweet cat from Charlestown who needs a family to take care of her.

Meet Matilda. Matilda is a sweet and mellow two-year-old spayed female cat who was found in Charlestown with her kittens. She went to fostercare while her kittens were nursing, and now all of her kittens have since been adopted. It's now Matilda's turn to find a home of her very own. She is very shy, so is looking for a quiet home that is willing to open their doors to a cautiously sweet feline. Matilda is patiently waiting for her perfect family. Could that be you? For more information on Matilda or any of the other animals currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please contact us at (617) 226-5602. The Animal Rescue League of Boston is open Tuesday through Thursday 1-7pm and Friday through Sunday 1-4pm, excluding some…

Wiley Had to Leave When a Landlord Wouldn't Accept Him, Now He Needs a New Family

Wiley is "very sweet" and gets along with people and other dogs.

Ed. note: Pet of the Week is provided to Somerville Patch by the Animal Rescue League of Boston. You may have missed the column over the past couple of months. That's because the Animal Rescue League was incredibly busy handling animal adoptions, and it was also a little understaffed, so it took a brief hiatus from this column. We look forward to seeing more pets in the upcoming weeks. Wiley is a handsome and very sweet two-year-old neutered male American bulldog mix who was brought to the Animal Rescue League due to landlord restrictions. He is such a happy boy with a smile on his face all the time! He is a playful guy who loves to play fetch with his toys, go on long walks with his humans, and just run around having fun. Ideally, he’d …

Ellie Was Abandoned, Left Outside in a Carrier, Now She Needs a Home

She'd like a calm home where she can play and sprawl out on the couch.

Meet Ellie. Ellie is a quiet and sweet 3-year-old spayed female cat. Her story starts out a little sad, for she was abandoned in a carrier outside the shelter. Despite this, she loves the attention of people and would love to find her forever home. Ellie is looking for a calm home, where she can explore, play, and look out the windows. She’s unlikely to be a lap cat, but would definitely consider sprawling out on the couch next to you. She has a loud purr and super soft fur, so you should definitely consider adopting her! For more information on Ellie or any of the other animals currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please contact us at 617-226-5602. The Animal Rescue League of Boston is open Tuesday through Thursday 1-…

Diamond is a Fun-Loving Pit Bull Mix Who Loves Older Children

She also loves to play and take naps.

Meet Diamond, a beautiful pit bull mix that is just over a year old. She gets very excited for walks and playtime, and loves to release her energy by going for a run or playing with other dogs. Afterward, she takes a nice long nap.  She is a smart dog; she already knows how to sit and could probably learn just about anything as long as there is food involved. Her new home would definitely have to provide her with an environment where she can exercise often throughout the day. She has lived with children before and would do best in a home with older kids, since she does love to jump around when she plays. Come into the shelter and get to know her over a game of fetch! For more information on Diamond or any of the other animals currently …

Tucker: An Enthusiastic Dog Who Wants a Home

Tucker, from the Animal Rescue League of Boston, would do best in a single-family home because he likes to vocalize his affection for people.

Meet Tucker. Tucker is a very sweet and affectionate 4-year-old neutered male tricolor treeing walker hound mix that was transferred to the Animal Rescue League of Boston from another shelter. Tucker would do best in a single-family home (not an apartment of condo), for he likes to show his admiration for the people he loves with a loud enthusiastic bark. Though he does well with other dogs, he prefers the company of quiet dogs and even more so of humans. Tucker can be fearful of new situations and would do best in a home with older children. He truly is a great dog looking for a family to share his enthusiasm for life, love, and following their nose. For more information on Tucker or any of the other animals currently residing at the …

Whiskers Is a "Black Smoke" Cat Looking for a Home

When Whiskers' owner went into a nursing home, Whiskers became homeless.

Meet Whiskers. Whiskers is a very unusual looking, sweet and quiet 13-year-young neutered male cat. He is a black tabby mackerel, also known as a "black smoke," which is super rare. Whiskers has been through a lot of changes lately. After his owner went into a nursing home, he was placed in a new home. However, he didn't get along with the other animals there, so now this gentle boy is looking for his forever home once and for all. Whiskers is a little bit shy here at the shelter, but after a few minutes of petting, he'll close his eyes and relax. He would love a quiet home where he can relax and be loved. So if you're looking for gentle, quiet companionship, Whiskers would make the perfect cat!  For more information on Whiskers or any of …

Betsy, a Cat Looking for Her Forever Windowsill

Betsy loves head scratches, but wants to be the only cat at home.

Meet Betsy. Betsy is a super sweet and friendly 2-year-old spayed female cat who was left behind when her owners moved away. Like many other cats, Betsy doesn’t like to have her tail or her back scratched, but face-to-face rubs and head scratches are greatly appreciated. She purrs and chirps and will even give kisses when she is happy. She prefers to be an only cat, and would love a windowsill to watch the world go by. For more information on Betsy or any of the other animals currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please contact us at 617-226-5602.
