Police Booking Log: Man with Pistol Walks out of Davis Square Bar

The following arrest information was supplied by the Somerville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Arrests made by the Somerville Police Department from May 13 to May 20. Please remember that the charges listed below do not indicate a conviction. On May 13, Daniel Matthews, 49, of 43 Josephine St., was arrested at 237 Elm St. and charged with carrying a firearm with ammunition, carrying a firearm without a firearm identification card and carrying amunition without a firearm identification card. According to a police report, police learned that Matthews had been in a physical altercation with someone the night before and he "was in Davis Square in possession of a firearm, possibly looking for retribution." Officers found Matthews coming out of Sligo Pub in Davis Square, according to the report. When they frisked him they found a loaded …

NC17-Rated Body Cavity Possibly Used to Hide Drugs During Police Bust

Somerville police arrested four after executing search warrants at a Pearl Street home, according to a police report.

Somerville police found bags of heroin and cocaine at 141 Pearl St. Friday after executing search warrants at the home, according to a Somerville police report. According to the report, one of the four people arrested in the drug bust may have hidden a bag of heroin and cocaine in her vaginal area. Kaitlin Gould, 22, of Charlestown, Bambi Havey, 22, of Malden, Peter D'Amelio, 37, of Newton and Peter Parise, 26, of Cambridge, were arrested in the incident, the report says. According to the report, members of the Somerville Police Narcotics Unit searched the Pearl Street home at about 4:20 p.m. Inside, they found one of the occupants, Parise, with a bag of heroin and a bag of cocaine, the report says. Man Drops Pants, Pees in Front of Davis Square Daycare Center, Says Report

The man fell over when trying to pull his pants up, according to a police report.

Staff members in a classroom at Davis Square's KinderCare Learning Center got a full-frontal view of a man urinating outside their window, according to allegations in a Somerville Police Report. According to the police report, a witness was in a classroom of the daycare center shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday when she saw a man stumbling outside the classroom window, the report says. According to the woman's account in the police report, the man "stumbled over to a cement pillar outside of her window and lowered his jeans to knee level," fully exposing himself. The man began peeing on the pillar, the report says. The woman sought out the director of the daycare center, who came into the classroom and banged on the window for the man to stop…

Somerville Man in 'Life-Threatening Condition' After Cape Cod Fishing Incident

Police were not releasing the man's name, and the incident was still under investigation as of Monday afternoon.

The Massachusetts Environmental Police have confirmed a 69-year-old Somerville man was taken to the hospital after a weekend fishing incident in Falmouth, on Cape Cod. Reggie Zimmerman, a spokesperson for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, which oversees the Environmental Police, said Monday the matter was still under investigation. Environmental Police were handling the case because it was boating related, according to the Cape Cod Times. Due to the ongoing investigation, Environmental Police were not releasing the man's name or his current medical status, Zimmerman said. On May 10, Rafael Lima, 38, of Cambridge, was arrested at 9 Pinkney Place and charged with assault and battery and breaking and entering. On May 10, Jasmine Sanchez, 26, of Charlestown, was arrested at 775 McGrath Highway, and charged with shoplifting. On May 12, Marcus DeMoura, 21, of Malden, was arrested on Lowell Street and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and leaving the scene of personal injury. Ten Displaced in Monday Fire

Firefighters put out "heavy fire" in the Mystic View housing development.

The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts assisted two families who were displaced by a fire at 50B Memorial Rd. Monday evening. According to an email from the Red Cross, the emergency organization helped six adults and four children, including a baby, with temporary shelter and funds for food, clothing and baby formula. 50B Memorial Rd. is part of the Somerville Housing Authority's Mystic View housing development. The fire broke out in a second-floor bedroom shortly before 6:30 p.m., and when firefighters arrived there was "heavy fire" coming from the apartment, according to Deputy Chief Patrick Sullivan of the Somerville Fire Department. Learners-Permit Driver Smashes BMW, Injures Two, Says Report

Four bystanders caught the driver and escorted him back to police, according to a police report.

A 21-year-old Malden man with a learners permit drove a BMW 80 miles per hour down Lowell Street, smashed into a Toyota Corolla, injured two people, then tried to flee the scene on foot, according to allegations in a Somerville police report. The report says a police officer was parked near Lowell and Alpine streets at about 10:20 p.m. on Sunday—Mother's Day—when he heard an engine revving and then saw a car fly by at 80 miles per hour toward Magoun Square. When the officer arrived on Medford Street, he saw the BMW had extensive front-end damage, and he also saw the Corolla, which had heavy rear-end damage and two injured occupants, according to the report. Somerville Crime Numbers in 2012

Figures from the Somerville Police Department show little change in the number of crimes committed in 2012.

Crime levels remained steady in Somerville during 2012. According to figures provided by the Somerville Police Department, the number of Part 1 crimes—serious crimes that are reported to the FBI—were about the same in 2012 and 2011. There was a 10 percent decrease in Part 1 crimes in 2012 when compared to 2010. Both violent crime and property crime levels remained about the same in 2012 and 2011, the figures show. When compared to 2010, there was a slight increase in violent crime and a slight decrease in property crime. There were no homicides in 2012, the figures show. Here are the figures. The numbers for 2011 and 2012 were through Dec. 18 of their respective years.
