This Weekend in Somerville: Red Line Ride, Dog Fest

Things happening in and around Somerville this weekend.

Red Line Ride
The Red Line Ride begins in South Station and hits Downtown Crossing, Kendall Square, Central Square and Davis Square. In each square there will be different attractions, including live performances, flash mobs, discounts at local businesses and, in Central Square, $1 dumplings at Dumpling Fest. Boston Magazine said "it's like a pub crawl but for events happening along the MBTA's Red Line." It starts at 12 p.m. Sunday in Dewey Square outside South Station and arrives in Davis Square at 4 p.m.

Somerville Dog Fest
The Dog Fest takes place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trum Field, on Broadway between Ball and Magoun squares. There will be activities for dogs and kids, rescue and police dog demonstrations, vendors and a silent auction. More at somdogfest.org.

Annual Half Way to St. Patrick's Day 4.1-Mile Road Race

This road race benefits the Brian Higgins Foundation, which supports children and families dealing with special needs. This year the road race will honor Sean Collier, the Somerville resident and MIT police officer whom police say was killed by the Boston Marathon bombing suspects. Check-in for the race begins at 9 a.m. Sunday at The Pub, 682 Broadway, in Ball Square. Walkers start the race at 10 a.m., runners start at 10:30 a.m.

Secrets & Motion
Luminarium Dance Company puts on "Secrets & Motion," a show that "combines dance, light, and text to create a performance riddled with contemplative thought, and a little humor." It's showing at The Center for Arts at the Armory Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m.

Yard Sale to Benefit the Growing Center
The yard sale, at the Somerville Community Growing Center, 22 Vinal Ave., benefits the Growing Center. It's Saturday at 10 a.m.

Joy Street Artists Present 2nd SatARTdays!
Head over to the Joy Street Studios, 86 Joy Street, at 12 p.m. Saturday for open studios. It takes place the second Saturday of every month.

SerbFest 2013
The festival will feature live music, folk dance performances and traditional Serbian cuisine. It takes place Friday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. It's at the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 41 Alewife Brook Parkway, in Cambridge.

Crash Safely Night #2: Benefit for the National MS Society
Five bands will be playing at Davis Square Theatre, next to Foundry on Elm in Davis Square, to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. It's Saturday night at 8 p.m.
