This Weekend in Somerville: Art Openings, Lilly the Hero Pitbull's in Town

Things to do in Somerville this weekend.

Doodle: Opening Reception
This show about cartooning features about 20 artists and cartoons of all sorts. The opening reception for the show is Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nave Gallery Annex in Davis Square (53 Chester St.) It runs through Jan. 26.

Art Opening: Visual Art Exploring Sound and Music
"Audio/Visual," a new show at the Washington Street Art Center (321 Washington St.), has an opening reception on Saturday. Artists in the show explore music through visual art. To add to the concept, DJ Mark E. Moon will be playing some sounds at the opening, which is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Audio/Visual runs through Jan. 25.

Prospect Hill Academy Open House
If you're interested in learning about the Somerville and Cambridge-based charter school, visit one of the school's open houses Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be another open house later in January if you can't make it Saturday.

Second SatARTdays!
Joy Street Studios, at 86 Joy St., has over 100 artists, and it hosts an open studio on the second Saturday of each month. The open studio is from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Zumbathon Charity Event to Benefit MSPCA-Angell and Animal Rescue League of Boston
Lilly the Hero Pit Bull will greet people with kisses and "pawtographs" at this Zumba event, which benefits two important animal welfare organizations in the Boston region. It's Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Somerville Neighborhood School. Juno the Chihuahua of Juno's Place will also be there.

Mass Appeal
Mass Appeal, an a cappella group, will be at The Center for Arts at the Armory Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

No One's Kind Reunion Concert
The Self-Proclaimed Rockstars, Handsome Ghost (former Aunt Martha) and The Bottom Dollars are also playing Saturday at Davis Square Theatre (not to be confused with Somerville Theatre).

Winter Farmers Market
The market is Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at The Center for Arts at the Armory.
