Monday Essentials: Inauguration Ceremony, Special Education Event

Things to know and do in Somerville during the upcoming week.

1) Inauguration
Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone, members of the Somerville Board of Aldermen and members of the Somerville School Committee will be sworn into office Monday night at 6 p.m. at the East Somerville Community School.

2) Special Education Event
The Advise the Advisory group is holding a meeting for Somerville families with special needs kids. You can learn more at the group's Facebook page. The meeting will be a chance to discuss education for special needs kids in the city. It's at the Argenziano School Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Light supper will be served, and there will be childcare. RSVP as late as Wednesday by emailing Kim at advisetheadvisory@gmail.com or calling (617) 312-5407.

3) Last Chance: McGrath Highway Comments
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is accepting public comments about its "Grounding McGrath" study until Tuesday. Learn more here.

4) Blood Drive
The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive on Wednesday, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., at The Center for Arts at the Armory. Visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767 to schedule an appointment for donating blood.

5) Board of Aldermen
The Somerville Board of Aldermen is scheduled to meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
