My teenage sons won't talk to me! Part 2.

Do you feel like you’re doing everything right but you’re still confused? Or, do you feel like you’re doing everything wrong and don’t know what to do? Your son isn’t talking to you, he won’t tell you how he feels, you ask him a question and he says, “I don’t know?” He seems like he doesn’t want to be around you and you wonder why? You’re frustrated and annoyed, and a lot of parents seem to usually say, “He’s being so disrespectful!”

So, what the heck is going on?

Here are a few reasons your son might not be talking to you …

  1. They feel judged. Home is supposed to feel safe and if they don’t feel safe, they won’t want to open up and be vulnerable.
  2. One teen says, “My parents freak out and yell about everything!” Yelling and not being understanding will push your teen son away.
  3. They don’t want to be treated like a little kid. Your response may be, "Then stop acting like one!" But, keep in mind that there is a good chance if you treat your son like a small child, most likely he’ll act like one or get upset and think you don’t understand that he’s maturing.
  4. He rather talk to another guy. A mom is more than capable to raise a son by herself but sometimes an understanding man is better in certain situations.
