The Best Brew and Bite Pairings

Whether you’re looking for something to soak up the booze or just a classic All-American brunch, lunch, or dinner- eating is always a great occasion to indulge in a beverage or two. The trick is to finding the perfect beer to compliment your already perfect dish.  Our bartenders and servers know what’s best, but just in case you ever want to show off – we’ve laid out the proper beer and meal pairings for you.

Burger

Ahh, the classic bar food. The burger is a favorite, and when paired with a great beer it becomes even better! Burgers vary greatly by the toppings that one chooses to put on, so beers that pair well with them vary too. The best beer to pair with a classic burger would be a pale ale or an IPA. The bitterness of the IPA clears the greasy taste of the burger away and gets you ready for the next bite of goodness. As more toppings are added, such as bacon or spicy condiments, an American Brown or Scotch Ale might be more suiting to one’s taste buds.

Steak Tips

If you’re craving some juicy, tender steak tips - there’s a complimentary beer for those too! Darker, heartier beers may be the answer here. Belgian-style lagers and pale or amber ales with deeper, roasted flavors work the best with a thick steak. The subtle bitterness and heavier body pair nicely with your favorite entrée!

Club Sandwich

Turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato between two hearty slices of Texas toast (is your mouth already watering?) pairs perfectly with an easy-drinking beer like Anchor Steam. The malt beer’s sweetness compliments the flavorful toasted bread and roasted turkey, while the light hop subdues the salty bacon. It doesn’t just stop at the club sandwich either! Pair with a BLT or a wrap and enjoy!

Quesadilla

If you’re feeling a little more Mexican style, you don’t need to stick with ordering a margarita! A smoked black lager goes great with a chicken and cheese quesadilla or even just a cheese quesadilla. The lager lifts the intense flavor and adds some smokiness to this bar favorite!

Pizza

The question here is, what beer doesn’t go with pizza? Pizza is a staple favorite food, and beer is a staple favorite drink, so it only makes sense that they’re a match made in heaven! Which beer is the best to wash down your favorite pizza? The classic Sam Adams Boston Lager compliments the tomato-based sauce on simple sauce, cheese and pepperoni pizzas. For a more spicy pizza, such as buffalo chicken or spicy sausage, a Sierra Nevada pale ale cools down the heat, but keeps the great taste that you love!
