Get A Library Card, Save Money!

Sign up for a library card; get discounts and prizes.

Have you heard, Somervillians? Your library card not only gets you resources at a fantastic library, but also gets you amazing discounts at local business in February and, in some places, through March.

Somerville Public Library has partnered with several companies in its Library Sign-Up Competition, which is pitting our fair city against Arlington, Belmont and Lexington to see which city obtains more library card registrations in February 2013 compared to February 2012. So card holders, stop by the following places and show your card for the following discounts:

But that’s not all. As new card holders register this month, we’ll be taking note of their names and contact information in preparation for a raffle. Prizes include a $50 gift certificate to Redbones and an e-book reader.

So check in with us on this blog or our Facebook and Twitter accounts for more information on what businesses are participating and when the raffle will take place. If you want to show off your library pride, submit a photo of yourself holding your library card to our new Tumblr page. Let’s see how many happy faces we can collect! The most creative photo posted by the end of the month will win an SPL mug!

Businesses, if you’re interested in partnering with the Somerville Public Library in this campaign, email Eileen Fontenot at eileenfontenot@gmail.com or call her at 617-842-2278. In exchange for providing discounts, the library will promote your business in social media and in the library.
