Candidates seeking to represent Ward 1—East Somerville—on the Somerville School Committee have until 5 p.m. Thursday to submit a letter of intent.
The School Committee is seeking to fill the vacant Ward 1 position after the previous representative, Maureen Bastardi, was appointed to the Somerville Board of Aldermen. Bastardi was tapped to replace former Alderman William Roche, who resigned in December to spend more time with his family.
The Somerville School Committee will review candidates for the position and choose someone to fill the vacant seat by Feb. 4. Whomever the committee chooses will have to run for the seat again during this fall's city election.
Interested candidates should send a statement of interest and a summary of experience or a resume to Tony Pierantozzi, superintendent of schools.
Candidates may bring applications to the Somerville Public Schools offices at 42 Cross St. or email them to email@example.com.
