Somerville High School Choir Going to D.C. For Inauguration

The choir will perform at the WorldStrides Heritage Presidential Inauguration Festival and attend the inauguration.

The Somerville High School Choir will travel to Washington D.C. during the inauguration of President Barack Obama to perform at the WorldStrides Heritage Presidential Inauguration Festival.

WorldStrides Heritage is an educational student travel organization that organizes trips for bands, choirs, orchestras and other musical groups, letting them perform in "renowned venues and exciting destinations," according to the organization's website.

In addition to performing at the festival, the choir will attend the inauguration.

Beverly Mosby, choral director at Somerville High School, said she was excited for the trip and that it would be a wonderful opportunity for students to "witness the inauguration of the president."

The choir will perform a French song, an a cappella negro spiritual and a third song that's not yet determined, Mosby said, saying she chose a diverse collection of songs because "we have such a diverse choir."
