Tufts University, in Somerville and Medford, graduated its class of 2012 Sunday morning in front of thousands that gathered in The Green.

Eric Greitens, an author, humanitarian and former Navy Seal, gave the commencement speech, in which he implored students to dedicate their lives to the things that bring them joy, but also contribute to society.

"There are infinite possibilities for you for joy, for service, to make a contribution, and we need all of you to find your vocation," Greitens said. "To develop your joys, your passions, and to match them to the world’s great needs."
