Firefighters, police officers and EMS teams from Somerville and Medford joined Tufts students Wednesday for the 11th annual Station House Chili Fest.

On Wednesday, Tufts University held its 11th annual Station House Chili Fest. The informal event started in 2002, in the aftermath of September 11, as a way for Tufts students to celebrate the work of local police officers and firefighters, according to Tufts.

The chili fest takes place every year during National Fire Prevention and Public Safety Month. The Tufts community invites police officers, firefighters and EMS teams from Somerville and Medford to lunch as a way to thank them for the duties they perform in the community.
