Parents: How Safe Was It For Your Child Getting To and From School Today?

Were the sidewalks plowed? Was there room for a bus and an SUV to get down a street? Was the bus stop plowed out or did kids have to stand on snowbanks? Tell us in the comments.

Framingham Public Schools cancelled school on Monday due to the conditions of the sidewalks and streets.

School was open on Tuesday. How were the conditions?

I also grew up in Framingham, and the comment above by Oiseau was absolutely correct. When we were kids if the sidewalks were not plowed, there was no school. Period. As much as I didn't want my kids to have to miss another day and make it up in June, it just wasn't safe out there for walkers or kids waiting at bus stops. I did see some plowed sidewalks on my way to work this morning, but where I live (in the Brophy district) there weren't any plowed sidewalks and Belknap Rd which is already narrow and dangerous is even more so right now.

Most of the smaller streets were very icy and snowy still, Very bumpy. Along Water Street, the sidewalks still had a lot of snow, ice, and puddles, which were annoying, but not too bad, I guess. The driveway of my house was very icy, but there's no way the Town could have fixed that. I also noticed a massive snow bank where my old bus stop was at the intersection of Water and Swanson. I know there are people that have that stop now. Here's a picture: http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2013/043/f/2/my_old_bus_stop_by_akbhorselover-d5uq3h5.jpg

Amy thanks for the photo. You are not the only parent I heard from today who noticed that crosswalks for walkers were blocked due to massive snowbanks.

UPDATE: Drove down Franklin street at 6:30 p.m and saw the sidewalk plow busy creating sidewalks.

Some of the side streets were still not plowed enough to get two cars to pass through. I passed a school bus and a small truck wtih a plow and I had to pull off into a snow bank to let them pass me. I do have to admit, the side streets of Sudbury were much worse. a danger is that new drivers are on the road driving to school while the walkers are forced into the streets that are not wide enough for two cars to pass.
