Somerville Labor Coalition Makes Endorsements: Ross Richmond Ward 5 School Committee

The newly founded Somerville Labor Coalition, a group composed of six Somerville labor unions, has endorsed candidates running for Somerville Board of Aldermen and Somerville School Committee. Including Ward 5 School Committee candidate Ross Richmond.

"I grew up in a family of Labor. My mother was a Boston Public School teacher (Local 66) before becoming a BPS principal," Said Ross. "It is labor in Somerville that has fought for wages that make it possible for our city employees to still be able to afford to live here and I believe they deserve that recognition."

According to the announcement, those candidates "most closely reflect the philosophy and values of our members."

To receive an endorsement, candidates needed to receive two-thirds of votes from members of the Somerville Labor Coalition's executive board.

The executive board consists of representatives from each of the six unions that are part of the Somerville Labor Coalition.
