Quick Look: The Residences at Maxwell's Green [Photos]

Maxwell's Green is nearing completion. Here's a quick look at the condos and some of the work that's been done to the apartment buildings.

After about a year and a half of construction, the large development in the heart of Somerville known as Maxwell's Green is looking, well, substantially complete. It's kind of like a new neighborhood.

The bulk of the development—the "Maxwell's Green" part—is a four-building project that will be home to 184 rental apartments, some of which are already rented.

A smaller part of the overall project is called "The Residences at Maxwell's Green," which refers to the 15 condos that are being sold. "The Residences" are actually a separate project by a different development team, GFC Development, Inc. (The apartments are done by Davis Square Partners, a joint venture between K.S.S. Realty Partners and Gate Residential Properties.)

Of the condos, six have already been sold, and nine are almost complete and are currently on the market.

I recently took a quick peak at one of condos and snapped a few photographs, which you can see here.

To give a brief rundown, the condos are on three levels, with a kitchen and living area on the first floor, bedrooms on the top floor and a more casual living area in the ground floor. The units currently on the market have outdoor patios off the ground floor, too.

The condos are LEED—Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design—certified and boast a modern design, with lots of glass and bamboo. They're supposed to be 30 percent more energy efficient than most newly constructed homes. The premium units have Viking appliances, and the base-level units have Bosch appliances.

They have three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms and about 2,050 square feet of space.

The asking price for the base units is $659,000, and the asking price for the premium units is $689,000. Condo fees will run you about $300 a month.

If you want to take a peek, there are open houses every Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Maxwell's Green apartment buildings are nearing completion. According to an April report from Boston.com, studio apartments start out at $1,831, and three-bedroom apartments will cost as much as $3,975.

The complex includes a fitness center, a yoga studio, a theater room, a roof deck, electric car-charging stations and other stuff.
