Somerville's 'Happiness Survey' Profiled in The Guardian

The British newspaper says Somerville has transformed from "a place you look to for how not to do things to one that is considered one of the best run municipalities in America."

Somerville's wellbeing report, known as the "happiness survey," has been featured in the New York Times and Christian Science Monitor, on CBS Evening News and elsewhere.

Now The Guardian, a British newspaper, has posted a lengthy profile of Somerville's initiative, the first in the United States.

Called, "Somerville: the city where policies are base on how happy they make people," the article says that because of initiatives like the "happiness survey," Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone "has been widely credited with transforming the city from a place you look to for how not to do things to one that is considered one of the best run municipalities in America."
