Progressive Democrats Endorse Five Candidates for School Committee
The group didn't endorse a candidate in Ward 5.
The Progressive Democrats of Somerville have endorsed five candidates who are running for Somerville School Committee.
The political group held a forum for candidates on July 9, and candidates seeking an endorsement also filled out questionnaires. (You can read their questionnaire responses here.) Members of the Progressive Democrats made endorsement votes online.
After announcing the endorsements internally, the group made them public at a meeting held Tuesday.
Here are the endorsements:
- Ward 1: Steven Roix
- Ward 2: Dan Futrell
- Ward 3: Adam Sweeting
- Ward 6: Paul Bockelman
- Ward 7: Carrie Normand
In order to receive an endorsement, candidates had to receive 66 percent of members' votes. The group made no endorsement in the Ward 5 race because neither candidate who sought an endorsement received enough votes.
