Have A Say in Future Job Growth, Housing North of Boston

Two state offices and an agency are seeking the public’s help in developing a regional vision for economic growth, open space preservation and housing north of Boston.

The Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development (EOHED), the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA) and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) are hosting a public forum at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in Malden City Hall (200 Pleasant St.) to discuss the “Metro North Land Use Priority Plan.”

The plan will seek to identify the best locations for development and open space in the following municipalities: Charlestown, Chelsea, East Boston, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Revere, Somerville and Winthrop.

The forum will begin with an open house at 6:30 p.m., during which attendees can view maps and ask questions of project staff, and continue with a community meeting at 7 p.m. in the third-floor Council Chambers.

Topics of discussion will include priority areas for preservation and development, regional infrastructure improvements, innovative ways to preserve or create space for parks and recreation, and barriers to growth in each of these communities.
