Capuano Votes 'Yea' on Budget Bill

Although he voted to end the government shutdown, the Somerville congressman was not pleased with the situation.

Rep. Michael Capuano, from Somerville, was among the 285 congressmen who voted in favor of a bill to fund the federal government through Jan. 15, 2014, thus ending a two-week government shutdown.

However, Capuano told WBUR he was not happy with the situation.

"The Senate bill's not a victory for anyone," he told the radio station. "It's kicking the can down the road."

He said the country will find itself in the same predicament in January.

The bill, which had been brokered in the Senate and which President Barack Obama signed at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, also raises the country's debt limit until Feb. 7.
