Thursday's Fire Not Considered Suspicious

An investigation team is looking into possible accidental causes, according to a statement.

A Thursday night fire that gutted a family home near Inman Square is not considered suspicious, though the cause remains under investigation, according to the Somerville Fire Department.

The fire department issued a joint statement with the Office of the State Fire Marshal Friday morning.

Here's what it says:

"State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan, Somerville Fire Chief Kevin W. Kelleher and Somerville Police Chief Thomas Pasquarello said last night’s fire at 27 Dickinson Street remains under investigation this morning but it does not appear suspicious in nature. At this stage, the investigative team is focusing on several possible accidental causes.

The fire is being jointly investigated by members of the Somerville Fire and Police Departments and state police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal."
