Student Arrested After Stairwell Beating at Somerville High

Police were planning to arrest another student as well.

One student was arrested and police were planning to seek an arrest warrant against another, after the two allegedly beat a fellow student in a stairwell at Somerville High School.

Salvador Castro Ramos, 18, of 17 Autumn St., was arrested shortly after the alleged incident Monday morning, April 28, and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot). The other suspect was a 16-year-old juvenile, police said.

The two allegedly beat a fellow male student in a stairwell at the high school shortly before 11:30 a.m. Monday. The victim’s left side of his head was swollen and red, as the two students allegedly punched him and then kicked him while he was down. The 16-year-old also stomped on his head with his sneaker, the victim told police.

The victim was taken to Somerville Hospital’s emergency room by his father.

The victim said he believed he was attack for retaliation from a fight he had gotten into the previous Friday.
