Stabbing on Glen Street in Somerville

A man was stabbed multiple times Thursday afternoon during a domestic incident.

A 28-year-old Somerville man allegedly stabbed another man Thursday afternoon with a large kitchen knife during a domestic incident at a Glen Street apartment in East Somerville.

Benjamin Chacon-Lopez, of 52 Glen St., was charged with armed assault with intent to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon. Chacon-Lopez was arrested Friday after an officer spotted him walking on McGrath Highway, near Flint Street.

Police responded to 52 Glen St., across from the East Somerville Community School, shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday, July 10. There, three witnesses told police that Chacon-Lopez, who had just fled, repeatedly stabbed the man during a fight, according to the police report.

One of the witnesses told police that tensions had been building between the men for several weeks. The witnesses were able to break up the fight, according to police. Chacon-Lopez also threatened to stab a teen during the incident, police said.

The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
