Somerville Police Help Arrest Suspect in Armed Robbery of Medford Gas Station

Another suspect is still at large. One suspect showed a knife while the other assaulted a clerk with an "aerosol spray."

Somerville police and Somerville Housing Authority police recently assisted Medford police in arresting a New Bedford man in connection to the armed robbery of a gas station in Medford near the Somerville border.

Medford Police are still seeking another suspect in the robbery, which took place at Fred's Gas Station on Mystic Avenue late last month.

Jesus Carrasquillo, 19, of 889 County St. in New Bedford, was arrested Feb. 7 at 500 Mystic Ave., Somerville, and charged with armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon for his alleged role in the robbery, according to Medford police and a Somerville police booking log.

A second suspect remains at large, according to Medford Police Capt. Kevin Faller.

Faller said the two suspects entered the shop on Jan. 29 and stole cash after the second suspect allegedly showed a knife and Carrasquillo allegedly used an "aerosol spray" on a shop clerk.

After a description of the suspects was circulated, Faller said help from both Somerville police and Somerville Housing Authority police led to the arrest of Carrasquillo.

Faller provided the following description of the suspect still at large: black male, approximately 19 to 20 years old, black jacket, black jeans and a black rag on his head.

A still image from the security camera at the shop is available to the right.

Medford Police can be contacted at (781) 391-6404.
