Cosmo Curtatone Jr. is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing later this week, according to CBS Boston.
Curtatone allegedly shoved a woman, who he has had several past conflicts with, and tried to rape her, according to the report. He also allegedly told her that he has political ties and many friends that could protect him, according to the news station.
Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone has refused to comment.
Cosmo Curtatone Jr., the brother of Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday, April 8, with the following charges: assault to rape, assault and battery and larceny over $250.
Curtatone, 43, of 11 Prospect Hill Ave., Somerville, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. at Stop & Shop, 775 McGrath Highway, according to the weekly Somerville arrest log.
Curtatone is also the brother of Middlesex South Register of Deeds Maria Curtatone.
