Somerville Detectives Make Crack and Heroin Arrests

Somerville narcotics officers made three drug arrests last week, booking an Everett man accused of selling crack cocaine near Beacon Street and two people who were charged with possessing heroin in East Somerville

On April 5, undercover detectives arrested Omar Legall, 29, of Everett, and charged him with possessing drugs with an intent to distribute them.

According to a police report, detectives spotted Legall on Park Street at about 2:35 p.m. Legall was wanted on warrants for drug possession and trespassing, and detectives stopped him on Ivaloo Street, which is near Beacon Street.

When police searched Legall, they found clear plastic bags with "cuts and pull marks" on them and a small pocket knife, according to the report. They transported him to the police station where they discovered another bag containing two grams of what's believed to be crack cocaine, the report says.

According to the report, it's common for crack dealers to keep one single piece of crack, as opposed to lots of little pieces, because it gives "the appearance of personal use." Dealers then cut off little pieces to sell.

Legall and charged with drug possession, trespassing, drug violation near a school and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Heroin

On April April 7, narcotics officers working in East Somerville spotted a person known to be a heroin user with four other people, according to another police report. 

Officers observed the the five people walk through the streets into Charlestown, where two members of the group entered a car and then, within a minute, exited the car, the report says.

The group walked back into Somerville and into a restaurant, according to the report. The report says one woman entered the bathroom and then came out showing "an obvious, recent puncture on the top of her left hand." The report says a man exited the restaurant who was very unsteady on his feet.

Detectives stopped the two, and found two small baggies filled with what's believed to be heroin on the woman and one small baggie filled with what's believed to be heroin on the man. They also found pills believed to be Clonazepam and Alprazolam on the man.

Police arrested McKenna Goodman, 19, of Easton and charged her with drug possession. They arrested James Amaral, 31, of Malden and charged him with drug possession.

Amaral has been busted before on charges of drug dealing, according to Boston Globe
